Music Station 1990?
Weekend
X in the cage! The stage designers of the program have put X into a cage of light,
dozens of big lamps trap the members in a light-cube.
During the piano part of the song Yoshiki turns around some 90 degrees to a small keyboard placed
next to his drum set and plays piano as well.
hide chan is styled in a black enamel coat with red clippings (also to be seen sometimes in the
Visual Shock Vol.2 "Event digest" corner) and does a lot of background vocals to support Toshi.
.
Music Station 1991?
Unfinished
Yoshiki, in a red dress, sits behind a transparent piano with roses lying on it.
The stage is huddled in artificial mist and all members except for Toshi are sitting in this quiet performance. hide chan is styled as in the "Celebration" Video Clip.
.
Music Station 1991?
Silent Jealousy
All X members have come back from the US and look as if they were suffering badly from
jet lag (laugh)... During the preformance of Silent Jealousy hide chan has some trouble!
First of all some cables are in the way and hide chan sort of "dances" them away by
kicking at them (laugh). During that exercise his guitar strap loosens and he has to hold the
guitar with his knees (laugh). hide chan is styled like in the Silent Jealousy video clip
of Visual Shock Vol 3.

.
Music Station 1991?
Say Anything
Yoshiki, in a red and black dress, has his hair oiled and looks very very much like a girl behind
his piano (laugh). The rest of the members stand in the middle of white flower arrangements.
Somehow all members look rather tired, it seems they just returned from a concert to perform at
Music Station. Toshi more or less looses his voice which is another indicator for that theory (laugh).
hide chan is very beautifully styled like in the Love Replica video clip of Visual Shock Vol. 3
where he plays the painter, that means with hat and bandana.
.
Music Station Special 1993.12.15
Kurenai and Tears
After Taiji left the band this is probably (?) the first reappearance of X on TV or at least on
Music Station for quite a while.
Tamori does a little digest of X appearances on Music Station until now and then X performes
Kurenai and Tears. For Kurenai there is no guitar intro, but a piano intro.
hide chan does quite a lot of headbanging, greatly styled in the red enamel coat he wore for
Tokyo Dome 1993 (Yellow and Pink versions of that coat followed
in 1994). During Tears some 10 violin players support the song.
.
Music Station Special 1993.12. ?
Tears and X
X does their first performance in front of a larger audience after an absence of nearly two years!
This performance must have been a few days before the Tokyo Dome
"1993 X Japan Returns" live.
hide chan is styled in the same very colorful and cute dress like in parts of the 1993 Dome performance. They do Tears at first and then X!! During X the audience completely freaks and does X jumping
and X freaks as well, that means especially hide chan and Yoshiki!
Yoshiki breaks his drum set (during which a camera gets broken what Tamori mentions more
or less every time when he meets X again afterwards (laugh)) and hide chan smashes his
guitar on the floor and freaks wonderfully in what makes up one of X' most stunning and
powerful TV performances.
.
Music Station 1994.11.25
Rusty Nail
About a month before Tokyo Dome Blue and White Nights X performs Rusty Nail.
Hide chan is styled in that bbbbbbbeautiful Jaguar jacket (same as in Shoxx Vol ? around
December 1994) I love so much and that I also cosplayed a few times. He wears a red hat and
has his hair (at least what you can see of it) braided. Hide chan plays a greenish transparent guitar.
Somehow hide chan seemed to enjoy himself that day, he smiles all the time during the
performance and is absolutely cute.
Also Yoshiki comes with braided hair and by the end of the song topples his drum set. Toshi wears
sunglasses as during the complete Blue and White Night concerts and any other TV appearance
around 1994 and 1995.
.
Music Station 1994.12.16
Longing
Just two weeks before the Blue and White Night concerts in Tokyo Dome X is a guest of MS again.
Today with Longing and all in white! All band members are dressed completely in white. Yoshiki
looks very much like a girl again with his blond long curls and the white dress he wears. But
hide chan makes you scream as he comes down the stairs of the MS studio. hide chan wears
a white suite and a huge white wig! (laugh). The wig looks like the one he wore for the Eyes Love You
video clip. hide chan looks really amazing with that wig and it's almost hard to recognize him! (laugh).
X delivers a quiet performance of Longing, shortened for the little time they give the bands at MS.
The text is that of the cassette every visitor to the Blue and White Nights received as a present
and not the one that later appeard on CD. Yoshiki plays on a white piano covered with white
roses and hide chan plays a white guitar I never saw on him before or afterwards.
.
Music Station Special 1994.12.30
Rusty Nail live from Tokyo Dome!!!
Since X was busy the night of Music Station's Special giving a concert, they had a live TV
broadcast from Tokyo Dome.
I remember this quite well, since I've been there myself, it was my first X concert! (laugh).
The concert was more or less over already and X reappeared on stage at around 21:30 or so
and then they did the live connection to Music Station and performed Rusty Nail.
Since no video has ever been published from the Blue and White Night concerts this is
more or less the only chance to see some material from that live. However the stupid TV
people didn't know who is who and during hide chan's guitar solo part in the song they depict
Pata on TV all the time! (laugh) It's nice to see Pata chan of course too, but hey! it's hide chan
who's playing that guitar solo!
...
Music Station 1995.11.24
Longing
Suddenly the style of the band members changed quite a bit, Toshi, Yoshiki and hide chan
all cut their hair. Toshi turned back to black, Yoshiki is still blond though and hide chan red of course. hide chan wears a red sweater and a black hat and almost seems a little bored and chews
chewing gum during the performance (laugh).
.
Music Station Super Live 1995.12.29
Dahlia
Two days before the Tokyo Dome concerts of Dahlia Tour and 5 days afer their concert in Osaka,
X performs Dahlia in the Super Live of Music Station. hide chan wears a green sweater and is
styled like in Tokyo Dome 2 days later. hide chan is very genki, chews chewing gum again
and spits it onto stage later on! (laugh)

.
Music Station 1996.10.4
Forever Love
As common with their ballads X does a rather quiet performance of Forever Love with
Yoshiki on Piano. hide chan is styled like in the Concert Tour Pamphlet of Dahlia Tour Final
and looks absolutely adoring in that "Norton" leather jacket.
.
Music Station 1996 ?
Crucify My Love
The only X performance where not all members are present.
The performance of Crucify My Love is done by Toshi on vocals and Yoshiki on piano. The other
members had a break and didn't appear for this performance.
.
Music Station Super Live 1996.12.27
Scars
Just a few days before Tokyo Dome Dahlia Tour Final, X performs "Scars" for the Music Station
Super Live and all are very genki! hide chan wears that green suit with black stripes he also wore
for the performance of "Scars" during the Tokyo Dome Dahlia Tour Final.
Yoshiki drums with his neck support after he hurt it during Dahlia Tour.
.
Music Station Super Live 1997.12.28?
Scars
A few days before the Last Live. When X appears it becomes so obvious that they disbanded.
As X is being announced only 4 members appear. Toshi is missing.
However he does the performance and joins the band for this last TV performance of Scars and the last
appearance of X on Music Station ever. All members are keen on trying to evoke good old X power one more time, but you can't really watch this performance without a bitter taste in your mouth.

Pop Jam
hosted by Moriguchi Hiroko (at least during X times)
hitparade with big audience and nice stage, sometimes some backstage talks...
beginning of 1995 Rusty Nai, Longing soooo beautiful
1996.1.26 Dahlia wild wild wild
1996.10.26 Forever Love no centimeter
 ..
Pop Jam beginning of 1995
Rusty Nail, Longing
This Pop Jam performance is my favorite not only because it is the longest. X is allowed to play
two songs and both in full length and not shortened by TV demands. At first comes Rusty Nail.
Toshi, Pata and Heath are dressed all in black, Yoshiki sits with bare chest and long blond curls behind
his drum set and hide chan is just overwhelming...
This time hide chan wears a red suite with black fur at the arms and his hair is incredible again.
He has his whole hair braided and probably some artificial stuff added
since that is an enormous amount of red hair! Maybe the whole thing is a wig, but who cares since he
looks absolutely gorgeous with that mountain of hair. hide chan plays my favorite guitar
(there is a photo of it somewhere among the mountain of links on the kurenaiX page) and
does quite a lot of dancing on stage during Rusty Nail. The audience of Pop Jam is always a damn
good one and there are lots of X fans among them who scream and freak.
After Rusty Nail X remains on stage and white mist starts to pour as they play Longing in full
length. During an instrumental part of the song Toshi introduces the band members so this
only two song TV performance makes the impression as if it was a little concert. Thanks to
Pop Jam people for allowing X to have a TV performance their pace!
.
Pop Jam 1996.1.26
Dahlia
A very wild and great performance of Dahlia.
In front of a freaking audience X gets swept away by its own power and delivers an outstanding
performance of Dahlia. Although it makes the impression that Toshi sings with playback it's a
cool performance with Toshi rolling around on the floor, hide chan dancing wildly around and more or
less smashing his guitar! hide chan is dressed in black leather pants, a red sweater and black hat. Toshi wears a very heavy coat which he gets rid of during the performance. Yoshiki sits behind his new
silver drum set. The audience really freaks and X seems to enjoy that and freaks with them.
.
Pop Jam 1996.10.26
Forever Love
As usual with their ballads X delivers a very quiet performance of Forever Love. More or less none
of the members moves a centimeter during the performance. hide chan wears the Norton leather
jacket he also wore for the performance of Forever Love at Music Station and looks absolutely
gorgeous. He plays on a yellow half transparent guitar and chews chewing gum again, making
the impression he's rather bored (laugh). Yoshiki sits in an open white shirt behind a transparent
piano and behind the band white mist flows onto the stage like a waterfall. A nice prformance of
Forever Love, however somehow cold and without much emotion.
.
Kouhaku (Red and White Night)
Every year again on New Year's Eve Japan's most popular musicians gather and
make a little contest... white group vs red group... as far as I know X showed up at the Kohaku
four times (if there were more I'd be happy for information).
.
Kohaku 1992 ?
Silent Jealousy
Yoshiki appears with an enormous amount of hair on his head, blond curls braided into his
real hair and looks very girlish again. hide chan is in a very good mood and does a lot of dancing
on the stage wearing a black enamel suit never seen on him before or after that performance again.
.
Kohaku 1993
Tears
X appeared on the Kohaku apparently after their concert in Tokyo dome 1993 and all members are
very tired and exhausted and Toshi has difficulties singing. Since it's 1993 by now that means Heath
is there instead of Taiji. hide chan and the other band members wear their costumes from
1993 Tokyo Dome live since they seem to have come directly from the Dome to Kohaku.
.
Kohaku 1994
Rusty Nail
Right after the second day in Tokyo Dome of they Blue and White nights concert 1994
X appears at Kohaku to perform Rusty Nail. They are all dressed in the same costumes as
when they left the Tokyo Dome's stage and must have hurried over to the Kohaku hall
right away again. It seems that Toshi does Rusty Nail with playback. After all he sang in
Tokyo Dome for two days. Apart from that it's a nice performance of Rusty Nail, however
without guitar solo, since X songs are always too long for TV performances! At least that's
what the stupid TV people seem to think...
.
Kohaku 1997
Forever Love
The last appearance of X on Japanese TV. Right after The Last Live the members went to the
Kohaku hall to perform Forever Love a last time. Of course they are all exhausted and tired
and also emotionally it must have been very hard for all members to do this performance right after
The Last Live. Due to more than 3 hours of concert Toshi has again no voice at all and all members
are very depressed and quiet and sad. A heartbreaking farewell for X Japan...

Special Stuff!
  X with Orchestra
1991 NHK
A superb performance of X that was held and live broadcasted on the 8th of December 1991
on NHK in Japan.
X plays with a full orchestra of 68 people that is located on a stage behind and above where X
performs. The band members seem to have taken this live very seriously, themselves impressed
by the big orchestra playing with them and are at their best. Even hide chan stays mostly on his
right hand side of the stage (left hand from his point of view of course) and does not dance around
very much but concentrates sharply onto his guitar.
The band members are styled line in the Hametsu ni Mukatte Visual Shock Vol. 4 that happened
only a few weeks later at the beginning of January 1992.
The most impressive performance is that of Rose of Pain.
(It is probably the only live performance of that song ever broadcasted
since even on the Visual Shock Vol. 2 video there are only exerpts from a Rose and Bloor Tour performance of Rose of Pain).
The intro of Rose of Pain is being played by an organist on a huge organ in the hall and the
orchestra fits perfectly into the song.
X delivers a perfect performance in this very impressive live.
Song List:
Blue Blood
Kurenai
Rose of Pain
Silent Jealousy
Say Anything
Endless Rain
.
Aionyoshi, The Great Music Experience, Nara, 22.05.1994
Standing Sex and Endless Rain
The Aionyoshi concert held in the city of Nara at the Todaiji Temple was an international Music
event with bands from all over the world. INXS was one of the guests on this festival for example.
X performs there as well and does Standing Sex and Endless Rain.
Since it was open air the sound system is not the best but nevertheless X does a powerful
performance of Standing Sex and later of Endless Rain.
hide chan wears black bondage pants, a black T-shirt and a pink
mohair sweater over that with huge holes in it (the sweater looks more like a net). Since the
live was right after hide chan's first solo tour hide chan seems very used to being on stage
and is very cool!
.
The Last Live
1998 January
The Last Live was broadcasted on Japanese TV in two different versions, with commercial breaks in common TV and without in satellite TV.
The Space Shower TV (SSTV) version without commercials is 2 hours long, but still of course
does not capture the complete live. In one of the versions Weekend is missing! Since the Last Live has never been published on video (not yet, maybe one day???) these TV broadcasts are the only
method to see at least parts of The Last Live.
Forever X
Forever hide chan

Talk Shows
.
.Yamada Kattenai TV
around 1992
In a TV show by some famous female comedian whose name I don't know, all X members
appear except for Toshi. The comedian asks hide chan, who wears Celebration video clip coat outfit,
how he spent New Year (seems the program was recorded around New Year) when he was a kid.
hide chan: Well like any other kid... (grinning) I've been a quite usual kid, you know.
Yamada: Oh, well... you're right... you weren't born like THIS (referring to his costume), right?!
hide chan: No, I wasn't exactly born like THIS.
All laugh.
The highlight of the program is that almost all of Extasy Summit's Muteki Band members show up
and they perform "Anarchy in the UK" with some 30 people or so.
hide chan takes the lead and sings the first few lines "I am an Anti-Christ, I am an Anarchist..." etc.
Another funny thing is that during this time Taiji was still a member of X, but nevertheless Heath is a
member of Muteki Band and on stage as well!
.
Hey Hey Hey Music Champ
hosted by the two "Downtown" comedians Hamada Masatoshi and Matsumoto Hitoshi.
It's a 1 hour program, hitparade and some 20 minutes for the special guest with 3 performances
and live talk. X appeared 3 times on this program as the "Music Champ".
.
Hey Hey Hey 1
1995.1.9
hide chan does not get one word to say in this first Hey Hey Hey appearance of X (laugh),
but Yoshiki's stories are very nice as well.
The hot curry story:
After some live the band members went to a curry shop and had curry and Yoshiki almost
freaked because the curry he had was sooo fuxxxing hot and burnt up all his mouth! (laugh)
The hot shower story:
Again after some live in some hotel somewhere in Japan Yoshiki went under the shower and
boiling hot water came out and brewed half of his body!!! The Downtown couple thinks that's
very funny, but Toshi says, "No, come on guys, that was not funny, Yoshiki got really burnt!" Ouch!
I want to go home story:
Yoshiki was alone somewhere in the countryside, some 200 or 300 km away from Tokyo and
suddenly in the middle of the night he absolutely wanted to go home back to Tokyo at once!!!!
He unfortunately does not specify what exactly happened that made him want to go home so badly.
So he stopped the next taxi and told the driver "go to Tokyo!" The taxi driver was
rather shocked. "But but... that will cost several 100.000 yen!" Yoshiki had to show him his
money before the taxi driver agreed to drive him to Tokyo! (laugh)
..
Hey Hey Hey 2
1996.1.8.
In the middle of the Dahlia Tour X appeared in Hey Hey Hey again. The downtowners start to
talk about the first live of the Dahlia Tour that seems to have been accompanied by some trouble:
After the first song Yoshiki destroyed his drum set and ran back into the dressing room.
hide chan said he turned around and thought oops, drum set destroyed...! What now...?
The downtowners ask why Yoshiki did that and Yoshiki replies he needed a "member's meeting".
Then one of the downtowners says: "Hm, it seems you got upset because the drums were too loud!", which causes a big laugh for the whole audience and band members.
.
Hey Hey Hey 3
1997.1.13.
My favorite Hey Hey Hey... After Dahlia Tour Final the downtowners first of all accuse X
of having done nothing much in 1996 and the band has to explain what they did, Yoshiki had his
accident in Nagoya with his neck, after that went into recording. hide chan is being excused because
he published his second solo-album and did the Psyence a GoGo Tour. The downtowners
ask Pata: "Okay, and what did you do?"
Pata: (pointing his finger at hide chan) Koitsu no toko de baito shita yo. (I did a side-job for this
guy - meaning he played guitar in hide's band during Psyence a GoGo (laugh)).
Then they somehow start to talk about food and Yoshiki says: hide chan has no taste!
The audience protests, hide chan grins.
Downtowner: What do you mean he has no taste?!
Yoshiki: Well of course he has taste but...
Downtowner (interrupting): You just said he has no taste!
Yoshiki: Well, I mean that hide chan falls for the atmosphere of a restaurant and not for the food.
He gets inside a restaurant and says oh, looks nice, and then everything tastes nice as well,
no matter whether the food is good or not!
hide chan: But, but... wait a second
He sits next to Yoshiki and touches his arm.
Downtowner (interrupting): Yeah! Yeah! Fight! Fight!
All laugh.
hide chan: You know... you know...
Yoshiki (interrutping): But I'm right, am I not?!
hide chan: You know, what this guy likes best ? (pointing at Yoshiki) The morning menue of McDonalds!
Yoshiki: No! No! That's not true!
hide chan: Sure it is...
Then hide chan imitates Yoshiki, acts like he was eating and makes very cute sounds of
"Mh, mh tastes good!"
and the whole audience and band lie half on the floor with laughter.
.
.
So this was a short X TV list. I know it's not complete. Should I get more info I will make a
supplement TV list. Promise.
